Mice bait for Pinky and the Brain?

With the colder weather having arrived the mice have come in from the cold and made our loft home. Being a kindly soul, humane traps have been deployed. First night mouse number 1 was caught, good old dairy milk. Learning from a previous mistake where I released said mouse too close to the house and I'm convinced it came back, this one was taken on a dog walk and released in a hedgerow far far away.

Problem solved, or not as the case turned out.

4am, rodent awakes and rattles up and down the inside of the walls and then in the loft on the wooden flooring. How can something so small make so much noise? Anyway, 4 nights later with variations of cheddar cheese, blue cheese, edam cheese, babybel, dairly milk, mars bar, double decker and even organic fairtrade dark chocolate the mouse hasn't eaten any of it. Arrrrgh!

Any thoughts on good bait welcome. I am trying not to go with the theory that it is mouse number 1 that has returned from over a mile away and is super inteligent and so knows not to venture in to the trap. Any one remember the pinky and the brain cartoon?

Weekday riding and late commutes...

Photo0071
it never fails to amaze the difference that can be made to a ride by simply going at a different time.

Last week I was lucky enough to be mtbing in the tweed valley, nothing unusualt there, but this time it was during the working week. Usually I am down at the weekend. It was like having the trails to myself. I never saw another soul in 4 hours of riding. The best £3 (daily parking charge) that I have spent, it was like using my own private trails.

The last two commutes to work have been started around an hour later than usual (I'm not skiving!) and the traffic is so much quieter so you can hear the birds, you meet different people and the sun is a lot further up.

Tis good to mix things up a bit.
